Photo of the day.

19 Jul

I forgot to post yesterday, so here’s two in one with the same theme.

I’ve noticed heaps of construction and refurbishment of old buildings and monuments around D.C. It’s Obama’s idea apparently, to stimulate the economy and provide work for the industries that were hit during the GFC. Think Rudd’s education revolution scheme. Anyway, pretty much every monument I’ve been to has had some sort of construction/maintenance going on. The American tourists have been complaining that it’s ruining their pictures, but I think it offers a different perspective to the classic perfect shots that are featured in every magazine/tourism brochure.

What do you think?

Love em – I totally agree with you. Reminds one that things often considered old and static require updating and maintenance – building, allegiances etc. The Capitol building does look better in your pics, however, than when I last saw it covered with scaffolding…
